Introduction: Automating Toll Plazas of India​

​A few years ago, at the National toll plaza, a person used to physically collect toll tax. This was a time-consuming process creating a lot of traffic and other issues. Hence, to automate the process, BM Infotrade was 1st to automate India’s various important toll plazas. Now, slowly we are implementing across entire India. ​

The Challenge:

 A few crucial factors to consider: ​

  1. The biggest challenge was the automatic deduction of money after scanning the RFID tag placed on the car.​

  2. Old process of physically collecting toll was increasing problems like traffic jams, inefficient handling of data and money.​

  3. The solution to RFID automation requires high expertise in IT.​

  4. We worked in collaboration with a technology partner to work on this problem.​

  5. In the traditional case, the end-user and the machine would talk to a particular server in the plaza. The problem with this method is that if the server does not work the entire system stops.

 

The Solution:

Automating the Toll Plazas of India​

    1. To automate the process, we configured two servers and one SAN storage for the toll plaza and deployed windows and Oracle systems on top of it.​

    2. We configured the clusters with two servers to make the application high availability (HA) and provisioning of data on SAN storage.​

    3. We configured virtual IP(VIP) on application for HA. This resulted in 99% uptime of application.​

    4. We at BM Infotrade provided a solution that would solve all these problems and create efficient RFID automation in toll plazas.

  1. The biggest benefit that the tool plazas observed were fewer traffic jams.​

  2. The process of collecting toll tax became convenient. ​

  3. The toll plazas with our solution experienced minimum downtime and maximum efficiency.​

  4. Our solution gave 99% uptime.​

We deployed the IT infrastructure solution for RFID automation at National toll Plazas.
